Overview
The Advocacy and Creation Care Committee(s) of the Anglican Communion Youth Network have embarked on a journey from June to November 2023, through the Creation Care Advocacy Campaign. During this period, we will be organizing various events and regional activities related to Creation Care Advocacy.
#RenewCreation Objectives:
- Modeling behaviors in daily life to reduce carbon footprint.
- Promote initiatives to instill the ideas of Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle in the minds of children and youth throughout the Anglican Communion.
- Promote the Communion Forest Initiative for tree growing.
- Conduct community clean-up initiatives
- Illustrating the importance of nature by showing the aesthetics and ecological diversity of various regions, whilst expressing the reason why such is necessary.
- Highlighting churches and youth groups across the Anglican Communion who are involved in Creation Care activities with special focus on those tackling plastic pollution.
#RenewCreation Messages
- Reduce - use only the amount that is necessary. Emphasis on reducing the utilization of Plastic Waste
- Reuse - eliminate single use product containers. Emphasis on the use of reusable containers wherever possible.
- Repurpose - give items a second life by using them again wherever possible, for a safe alternative purpose. Emphasis on reusing plastic waste where it is safe and appropriate.
- Recycle - give items a second life by sorting them for recycling wherever possible. Emphasis on plastic waste.
- "Plastic pollution is a threat. Let us try our best to lessen or eliminate it, for the future of our planet."
#RenewCreation Activities
- Learning Opportunities: There will be monthly webinars on related themes, details will be published each month.
- Actions by ACYN Members: ACYN members are asked to be deliberate about taking personal actions to reduce their own carbon footprint and share what they are doing using the feedback form and by using the hashtag if they post on social media.
- 4 R’s Campaign: Anglican Schools and Youth groups are asked to have Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, and Repurpose initiatives. We will share resources on the website to assist. We hope they can have those initiatives in September and October. They can share their plans using the feedback form and let us know what is happening after their events.
